Acai Bowls are these delicious breakfast concoctions that are the latest fad in health foods. However, up until last week I was completely oblivious to them. An Acai Bowl consists of two main layers. The bottom layer consists of a blended Acai berry “smoothie”. The top layer consists of sliced banana, strawberries and almonds, shredded coconut, goji berries, mulberries, raw granola and hemp seeds. This dish is super good.
I was introduced to Acai Bowls while in Portland last week. During our first rainy day exploring Portland, after a solid workout at 24 hour fitness, my mom and I happened to cross paths with Kure Juice Bar. We were both starving and had planned to have pancakes or French toast or some kind of traditional breakfast. However once we saw the trail of Acai Bowls leaving Kure, we knew we had to go in and grab one of these amazing breakfast bowls.
To sum up the taste of an Acai Bowl in one word….. GRATIFYING! Currently the best post workout meal I have had.
Since returning from Portland last week, my life has been a hurricane of running errands, seeing friends, doing laundry and packing again. My big brother and his fiance Monica arrived in Edmonton on Saturday from Seoul. We are all traveling from Edmonton to Ottawa this week to attend my convocation ceremony and meet all our family in the East. After Ottawa, I’m off to Scotland for a month!
